Your downloads and account

Everything you bought is in your customer portal: the Mac and Windows downloads, invoices and subscription settings. Sign in with the email address you used at checkout. Polar, our reseller, emails you a one-time code.

Install on a Mac

You need a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 13.5 or later.

1. Download the Mac version from the customer portal.
2. Open the download to unpack it, then drag Data Overlay into your Applications folder.
3. Open Data Overlay. If macOS says it can't verify the app, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then confirm. You only need to do this once.

Install on Windows

You need 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. The app window uses Microsoft Edge, which is built into Windows.

1. Download the Windows version from the customer portal.
2. Right-click the zip file, choose Extract All and pick a folder you'll keep, like Documents. The app won't run from inside the zip.
3. Open the folder and double-click Data Overlay.exe.
4. If Windows blocks it (SmartScreen may say it protected your PC, or call it an unverified publisher), double-click Start Data Overlay (signed).vbs in the same folder instead. It opens the same app using the signed Node.js runtime that comes with it.
5. To add it to the Start menu, right-click Data Overlay.exe and choose Pin to Start.

Put the overlay in your edit

• Premiere Pro: import the .mov and place it on V2, above your clip, starting on the same frame. Scale and position it in Effect Controls.
• Final Cut Pro: import the .mov and connect it above your clip at the same start point. Adjust it with the Transform controls.
• Export at your sequence's frame rate. Use 2× size for 4K timelines; 1× is enough for 1080p.

Manage your subscription

In the customer portal you can cancel, update your card and download invoices. When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. The monthly plan's first payment covers 3 months. See the refund policy.
